We need credible leader in 2011 ~ Geoffrey
By Alice Onukwugha
As 2010 draws closer, CNPP Secretary in Rivers State, Comrade John Geoffrey has said that what the nation needs is a credible leader who can bring about change.
Comrade Geoffrey made the assertion Thursday in a chat with publication in Port Harcourt.
The CNPP scribe who was reacting to the comments made by PDP National Chairman, Chief Vincent Ogbulafor on zoning principles, said for anyone to still talk of zoning principles, goes to show that they are after their personal gains.
“This would tell you that those up there have their own personal interests and not the interest of the people.
“That is the same Ogbulafor who traveled to Saudi Arabia to see Mr. President, but he could not see him. Spent all our monies, tax payers' money and returned back, and the same Ogbulafor, since the man returned to the country, he has not seen him. And that is the Chairman of PDP; he has not been able to see his own president up to this moment we are talking. Yet what he can tell us is zoning pattern. It is that same zoning pattern that brought Yar'Adua to power that the whole country is suffering today.
“They are not looking for credible leaders to move this country forward, but somebody they believe they can manipulate at the expense of the masses. That is what they are doing. What the country needs now is a credible leader and not by zoning”, he asserted.
Comrade Geoffrey blamed the inability of the National Assembly to take decisive steps on President Yar'Adua some few cabals.
In his words: “You have some few cabals there that are just holding this country to ransom. How can say that the issue has been over-flogged when you have not resolved the issue? You cannot say that the problem has been solved when the problem has not been solved.
“For Christ's sake Yar'Adua is the president of this country, and as it stands, he is the Chief Servant of this country, every person should know his whereabouts. Nobody seems to know where the president is, as we are talking now, not even the acting president, or the senate president himself. So who is fooling who in this country? They know what they are doing”.
Comrade Geoffrey who is a staunch member of the All Nigeria Peoples Party, ANPP, informed that the party was mapping out strategies to wrestle power in 2011 general elections so as to bring change in the leadership.
