Show promoter may take legal action
…As his proposal was hijacked

A Yenagoa-based show promoter has expressed dismay that the proposal of a fashion show he submitted to Mrs. Alayingi Sylva has been hijacked and blamed her.
The Special Adviser to the Bayelsa State Governor on Gender Empowerment, Mrs. Vivian- Ere Amananagha was also named as the facilitator in the scheme.
According to the Chief Executive of Total Concept, Mr. Jeany Metta Angoye in a press release made available to the Telegraph, the major event which was tagged Fashion Week and celebrated with fanfare at the Gloryland Cultural Center in Yenagoa was conceptualized by him.
In the release, Mr. Angoye also said he had approached several government agencies with his proposal with the Office of the Special Adviser on Gender Empowerment inclusive but did not get promising feedback.
The promoter who said he is not happy with the turn of event argued that since he had submitted the detailed nature of the concepts in a proposal to Mrs. Amananagha who promised to present same to Mrs. Sylva who was said to be in London at the time, he was convinced of the special adviser’s involvement.
The Chief Executive of Total Concepts said his claims become even more incontestable when viewed against the backdrop of the prominent role the special adviser played in at the execution of the event at the state capital last weekend.
However, this medium learnt that the press secretary to the First lady has also been drawn into the matter and has told the promoter not to join Mrs. Sylva in the issue as there was no physical contact between them.
“It is robbing Peter to pay Paul. I want the entire world to know that in Bayelsa State people who present creative and brilliant ideas are more often not allowed to reap the dividends of their creativity …”, he said.
Currently, the promoter who said he is conferring with a lawyer on what to do has vowed to do anything within the confines of the law to ensure that the intellectual ownership of the said fashion event was recognized as his.
