Teacher beats student to death

An JSS-II female student, in one of the Commercial Secondary Schools, at Ikot Etokudo in Akwa Ibom State was reportedly flogged to death by a teacher in the school.
The student whose name was given as Idara Udo Ibanga was said to have died after receiving strokes of the cane from her teacher.
The Weekend Telegraph gathered that the teacher has been arrested by the police, while investigation is going on.
Meanwhile, the State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Nseabasi Akpan on hearing the news about the incident, visited the school to confirm the incident.
Dr. Akpan, commiserated with the deceased family and prayed that God would grant them the fortitude to bear the loss.
He said government would ensure that something was done to avert future occurrence of such incident.
In a related development, two sisters, Percilia Victor Okereke and Ada Eze Okereke reportedly fell into an open sock-away at Saintly Nursery School, Eket which led to their immediate death.
According to Weekend Telegraph correspondent, the proprietor of the school and some of the staff are already in police custody for interrogation.
Contacted the PPRO of Akwa Ibom State Command, Mr. Gab Ngban, declined comment saying that investigations were still going on.
