NUGOS chooses new date for students' summit

The leadership of the National Union of Gokana Students, NUGOS-Worldwide, has re-scheduled its “GOSS-2009 summit” to run between Friday, July 24-26 in the LGA.
Its President, Comrade Kiabel Stephen Aabe told the Telegraph in an interview that the programme would be part of the student's effort to scoop public opinion towards sustainable peace in the area.
He regretted that the three-day event earlier billed for June 26 to 28 could not take palce due to some logistic reasons.
According to the vibrant students leader, NUGOS also resolved to embark on such a programme as a response to the clarion call by the present leadership of Gokana local government council on individuals and organizations to join hand with it in moving the LGA forward.
Comrade Kiabel gave an insight into how the event would be, saying that a convoy of the students shall depart the council secretariat at Kpor and visit all communities in the area to meet with youths, elite and the chiefs.
The theme of the GOSS-2009 summit, the president disclosed is, “Building sustainable peace in Gokana through the students wing”,
The Telegraph was told that the event shall feature lectures, symposium, declarations and interactive sessions between the students, speakers and notable personalities that would enable the organizers to gather viable ideas on the role towards sustainable Peace and progress in Gokana.
Comrade Kiabel Stephen Aabe said that speakers at the event shall comprise respected brains from various endeavours such as education, security, tradition, media and politics.
They include the students friendly and largely admired immediate past executive chairman of the LGA, Chief (Hon.) Fred Kpakol, Chief (Hon) D. K. Badom who is the national Chairman of PCRC, DR. F. B. Sigalo, Mr. Peter Dubon, Dr. Noble Abe, Mr. Leki Dumnu (Clerk of the table, RSHA), Dr. B. D. Kiabel and Mr. Alloy Khenom, a senior journalist and public commentator.
The rest are Barr. Ledum Mittee, Hon. Batom Mitee and the Popmene Gokana, HRM, King B. P. Bagia.
The NUGOS leadership, however, apologized to its numerous and respected invitees over the union's inability to hold the event on its earlier announced date, and thanked the executive chairman of the LGA, Chief (Hon.) Victor Giadom for his concern and support for the body.
