13 schools can't be WAEC contres for 2009-2011 ~ Ministry

As part of efforts to stamp out Examination malpractice in the school system, 13 public and private schools have been de-recognized as WAEC centres for two academic sessions (2009-2011) by WAEC. Those de-recognized are:
Christ the King College, Port Harcourt, Lolo Comprehensive College, Port Harcourt, (now Sunny Memorial) Govt. secondary school, Okehi, Community Comprehensive secondary school, Apani and Ojims College, Rumuji.
Others are Oswol Academy, Aleto-Eleme, Morning Star Secondary school, Oyigbo, Our Saviour's Secondary School, Oyigbo, Lily International Secondary School, Oyigbo, Grace International Secondary School, Oyigbo, House of Wisdom Secondary School, Oyigbo, First International Academy Port Harcourt, and Community Secondary School, Eleto-Eleme.
Announcing this at the meeting with proprietors of private schools in the State Commissioner for Education, Dame Alice Lawrence Nemi who was represented by the permanent secretary, Mr. Richard Ofuru stressed that the present administration was poised to stamp out the ills of Examination Malpractice from the school system and was prepared to take further drastic steps to stop the menace, adding that no teacher from the affected schools would be allowed to supervise WAEC within the period as spelt out by WAEC.
Principals and proprietors of public and private secondary schools were warned to always adhere strictly to acceptable standards in the conduct of public examinations and to stop jeopardising the future of the young ones, arguing that Examination malpractice plants seeds of fraud and criminal values in society and discredit integrity of their certificates.
All proprietors who had earlier submitted an over blown list of SS 3 students for the forthcoming examination were asked to resubmit their list of SS 3 students for the ongoing WAEC registration to the Ministry on or before Tuesday next week.
Accordingly, the education commissioner advised students and parents to take note of the de-recognition and act wisely for their own interest.
She requested proprietors of the derecognised schools who may have collected money from parents and students to return same to their owners.
Similarly, the education commissioner disclosed that as a result of the outcome of conduct of the previous public examinations 19 other schools have also been warned by WAEC from engaging in unwholesome practices in the forth-coming public examination as government would not hesitate to frown at and act decisively with any principal or proprietor of public and private schools, who engage in examination malpractice.
Schools warned are;
Govt. Girls Secondary School, Ndashi-Etche, Community Secondary School, Lueku, Kabanga Comprehensive High School, Kabanga, Khana, Community Secondary School, Buako, Early Steps Secondary School, Rumuigbo, Victory Comprehensive College, Elelenwo.
Others are God'stime Comprehensive Secondary School, Oyigbo, Alenco Comprehensive College (now Randolph Comp. College Port Harcourt), Community Secondary School, Bera, St. Joseph Secondary School, Umuaturu, Community Secondary School, Egwu-Etche, Masuna International Secondary School, Umuebule 11 Etche, Community Secondary School, K-Dere, Community Secondary School, B-Dere, Community Secondary School, Nweol Gokana, Apostolic Comprehensive Secondary School, Bodo-City, Community Secondary School, Deken, Community Secondary School, Omademe, Okehi Memorial Secondary School and Community Secondary School, Elele.
Responding, the president of National Association of Proprietors of private schools, Dr. (Mrs.) Edna Opara (NAPPS) Rivers State chapter expressed disappointment that some proprietors of some private schools who may not be members of the association would indulge in this ignoble act to discredit the state and destroy the future of the young ones.
She, however, called for closer collaboration between the State Ministry of Education and NAPPS to fight the ill of examination malpractice.
