We’ll make Rivers technology village ~ Nmekini



Information Communication Technology (ICT), with the aim of maximizing the use of technology to enhance and sustain the delivery of services, will make Rivers State a technology village.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on ICT, Engr. Goodlife Nmekini who disclosed this during an interactive session with media executives on Monday in Port Harcourt said his department was working tirelessly to actual the dream.
Engr. Nmekini said ICT which is service-oriented would assist state ministries with necessary data in order to ensure efficiency and effectiveness within the civil service.
The SA to the Governor on ICT also disclosed that more training centres would be put in place in different parts of the State in order to acquaint civil servants with the necessary technology.
He said with the introduction of the ICT in the state, the issue of ghost workers had greatly been reduced with the state government recovery large sums of money which were monthly paid.
Also speaking, the Chief Consultant on Rivers State Innovation Park Project, Professor Bisi Oladipupo disclosed that efforts were being made by the department to reduce unemployment among the youths.
Professor Oladipupo said emphasis was laid on training, infrastructure and capacity building for the department to create the necessary impact.
The department had at its official launching of Rivers State Government e-service portal recently, urged residents to make use of the services provided to obtain any information needed concerning ministries and government officials.
