At least 150 persons from Teyor community formerly Teyor-Kaani in Khana local government council of Rivers State were said to have lost their lives in the past four years following the invasion of their land by the people of Gbor-Kaani (nicknamed Kaani 1) as a result of flagrant violation of zoning system on councillorship election in the area. The Chairman, Community Development Committee (CDC) of Teyor, Chief (Hon) Hyacinth Barikwa Namadam made the disclosure while speaking with newsmen during the “Teyor day celebration” at Teyor community last week. Chief Namadam disclosed that over 7,000 houses in the 17 villages, which make up the Bua-Teyor community, were completely destroyed, adding that May 9 of every year would use by the Teyor people to commemorate their ordeal with the Gbor-Kaani on May 9, 2004.
